Since the possessive relation is widespread in real life, it is distinguished by the productivity of its
expression in language. Different level elements of the language are used to express possessiveness in
languages with different systems. Possessiveness finds its expression with the help of grammatical means. If
such grammatical means form a paradigm, then the category of possessiveness to the language is formed.
Although the possessive category has been studied in Persian, this issue has not been sufficiently studied in
many Iranian languages. In this regard, it is relevant to study the possessive category both in Iranian
languages and in a separate language included in this system. In the article, the issues of language expression
of possessiveness in Persian, Tajik and Tat languages are investigated. The study shows that at least four
models are used to express possessiveness in Iranian languages. Only one of these models can be explained
as a grammatical category. Therefore, it is important to study the semantic field of possessiveness in
different Iranian languages. The study of the domain of possessiveness will allow us to determine the exact
boundaries of the possessive category in these languages.
