Zalimkhan Yagub's poem "Saz"

Abstract

Zalimkhan Yagub, whose main line of artistic creativity is the art of ashug, is a poet not only of
Azerbaijan, but also of the entire Turan region. The worldview of the people, concern for their fate, deep
love for our national and spiritual existence, and the desire to work for its protection are clearly visible in
each poem with the seal of Zalimkhan Yagub. The poetic heritage of the people's poet Zalimkhan Yagub is
full of perfect examples in every respect. However, his poems about our great poet Dede Gorgud, saz, and
ashig are true pearls of artistry. Without exception, every poem of the poet, born into the world of saz and
words, easily harmonizes with the airs of saz. The poet, who was a zealous admirer of saz and words, was
himself a living example of folklore. The love of the master artist, who carried folklore in his whole soul, for
ashig and saz was not accidental. There are dozens of works in Zalimkhan Yagub's work that include the
image of ashig. None of these works was a repetition of the other. His poem “Saz” is also an original work in
every respect. The article analyzes the poem “Saz” and reflects Zalimkhan Yaqub's attitude to the various
ashug images contained in it and to the art of ashig in general.
