The literary work of Musa Urud, who entered the literary scene in the 1980s, stands out for its
originality and represents the region of Western Azerbaijan – primarily Zangazur and the village of Urud. In
the late 1980s, as a result of Armenia's occupation of these territories, the population of Zangazur, including
Musa Urud himself, was forced to leave their native land. Regardless of where he has lived since, the poet
has always turned toward Zangazur and Urud, consistently depicting and glorifying these places in his poetry. The main protagonist of his two poems and hundreds of verses is this ancient Azerbaijani land and its
historical communities.
This article explores Musa Urud’s poetic creativity, classifies his poems and poetic works by theme, and
offers a literary analysis.
Additionally, in his monographs, Musa Urud has presented to readers the historical past of Western Azerbaijan, its ethnography, toponymy, and political structure.
