Zemfira Safarova – a scientist with a civil position

Abstract

Today the history and theory of music science, which is part of art criticism, are directly related to the name of Zemfira Safarova. Being the founder of source studies in the musicology of Azerbaijan, she also had great merits in the development of musical theory. In the articles that she wrote about her contemporaries, she tried to explore their civic positions. She gave patriotic messages to creative people in her quotes from the genius composer Gara Garayev. The theme of Karabakh has an important place in Zemfira Safarova's creativity. Deep love and patriotism for Karabakh is felt in every line of her works. In the lecture and article “Shusha is the cradle of our music” she could express her opinion with solid facts and evidence that could silence damned enemies.

The slogan “Karabakh is Azerbaijan” is the creative credo of a musicologist and reflects her civic position.
