Functional significance of bardasht in mugham dastgah “Shushtar”

Abstract

The presented article is devoted to the bardasht, which is the introductory part of the “Shushtar” mugham. The role and functional significance of the bardasht in “Shushtar”, which is called “Amiri”, is revealed. The available sheet music of the mugham “Shushtar” is analyzed. The bardasht of “Shushtar” has been recorded by the author of the article from the performance of Janali Akperov and Alim Gasimov as well. The instrumental and vocal-instrumental variants of the bardasht are compared. As a result of a comparative analysis, the main thematic core of the “Shushtar”, which is developed in subsequent sentences of bardasht, is revealed.
