Lexical-semantic word creation in the onomastics of the Azerbaijan language

Abstract

In the onomastic system of the Azerbaijani language, onomastic units are formed by different
word formation methods. There are various ways of creating words in our language. All of them participate
to a greater or lesser extent in the formation of onomastic units. One of these methods is the lexical-semantic
word creation method. Many onomastic units included in the onomastic system of the Azerbaijani language,
especially ktematonyms, were created in this way and become functional in different styles of the language.
The lexical-semantic method occupies an important place in the word creation of the Azerbaijani language.
In our language, the word formation process takes place in three directions: word formation, word
acquisition, conversion. Lexical-semantic method is a method and a means by which word creation is
realized. The most specific feature of this method is that no additional suffixes and root morphemes are
involved in the lexical units created in this way. By the method of lexical-semantic word creation, common
nouns change to proper nouns, and proper nouns also change to other types of proper nouns.
The article talks about the lexical-semantic word formation method, which is intensively involved in the
word formation process in the onomastic system of the Azerbaijani language.
