Abstract

Today, as a result of globalization, intercultural relations and conflict in the world, the issue of
ethnic and religious identity, mass migrations indicate the emergence of a new order.
Throughout history, there have been migrations from one place to another for various reasons. However, the
20th and 21st centuries are the centuries in which the most massive migrations took place throughout history.
Since 1961, the migration process of mainly Anatolian Turks, who live in need from a socio-economic point
of view, started from Turkey to Germany. This migration is considered the biggest migration in the history of
Turkey. Again, when we look at history, we find the life and everyday life, joys and sorrows, longings for
the homeland, problems experienced in the new society by emigrants in epics, love poems, stories and fairy tales, which are considered literary monuments. The lives of the Turks who immigrated to Germany were
also reflected in novels, stories and poems, and even in a small number of theater works. The works created
in this country, which later became a second homeland for their children who emigrated to Germany,
introduce us to the people here and their lives. The Turkish literature that originated in Germany actually
expresses the problems caused by the differences between individuals in modern societies created by
industrialization in the concept of migration. In this sense, the so-called second generation writers living and
writing in Germany have touched on these issues a lot. One of these writers is Hasan Kayihan. H.Kayıhan's
novel “Sultan”, which reflects the sufferings of Turks living abroad, was included in the research.
In the article is dealt with the work “Sultan” by Hasan Kayihan on the life of Azerbaijanis living abroad.
