Heydar Aliyev's historical meeting with academic staff and the issue of the status of the Academy

Abstract

National leader of the Azerbaijani people, prominent statesman Heydar Aliyev attached great
importance to the science factor in his many years of statehood, always took care of development of science
and scientists, and paid special attention to the use of scientific ideas to develop the country and the people
under his leadership.
In the article it is emphasized that the historical meeting of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan
Heydar Aliyev with the management team of the Academy of Sciences, the active and correspondent
members of the Academy, and the well-known scientists of our republic at the Presidential Palace on January
31, 1997 was a major turning point in the history and future development of the country’s science, especially
the higher state scientific organization.
At the same time, the provisions demanded and proposed by the outstanding statesman Heydar Aliyev is the
golden rule approved by the National Academy of Sciences based on world experience and country realities.
In the article it is dealt about the implementation of the demands put forward by President Heydar Aliyev on
January 31, 1997, about the need to carry out reforms in the field of science by approaching the strategy and structure of the Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan from the point of view of the national interests of our
people and the interests of our independent state.
