Abstract

The article deals with proverbs and sayings, paremiological units, which are a type of phraseological fixed combinations. As we know, fixed compounds are classified into two types: phraseological and non-phraseological fixed compounds or phrases. Phraseological fixed expressions include proverbs and sayings. The article deals with the cognitive and semantic features of phraseological fixed expressions, focusing mainly on proverbs. By studying proverbs, we come into contact with the mentality of the people reflected in them. Therefore, proverbs are closely related to the national mentality, outlook, culture, geography, ethnography and history of the people. It is for this reason that inertia preserves different semantic nuances and concepts in the inner contents of the words. Therefore, investigating the cognitive characteristics of proverbs in the language is one of the most interesting and relevant issues.
