On the studies of the Azerbaijani headscarf kelagai: traditions and modernity

Abstract

The article is devoted to the role of traditions in applied arts based on the analysis of the development of the traditional Azerbaijani headdress – kelagai. Kelagai is one of the most common national types of women's headwear in Azerbaijan, which was included in the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity at the 9th session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of UNESCO in 2014. Kelagai is a silk scarf in various colors and ornaments. Kelagai is a popular accessory these days. But it has its own history of development. The study of this path, the study of its practical, and most importantly, artistic originality, has been a priority in the last decade. Identification of the degree of study of the artistic traditions of kelagai is a priority in this article.
