Abstract

The article argues continuity of traditions as a topical issue for literary criticism, focusing on Pushkin and Gogol’s figurative, ideological solutions during search for religious-moral ideals. Famous novels by the spiritualist writer Dostoyevsky provide continuity for Pushkin and Gogol’s traditional reflections. The legacy of Dostoyevsky’s reflections were studied systematically and in-depth by the Azerbaijani scholars like M.G.Gojayev and I.I.Aghayeva, and the article reflects on the role of traditional continuity through the prism of their research.
