Abstract

The main goal of our research is to explain the connection between language and the brain in the light of research conducted in this field. Our research mainly consists of analyzing the theoretical foundations of existing practices. Empirical studies related to this field have been investigated and studied from a theoretical point of view. In other words, the experiments dedicated to the issues studied within the framework of neurolinguistics were investigated, and scientific articles reflecting the results of these experiments were used in our research.

The topics investigated by neurolinguistics are divided into two directions: 1) Speech disorders and their neurological causes, 2) Language acquisition, bilingualism and multilingualism. Linguist Gulmira Sadiyeva studied neurological problems in Azerbaijani linguistics and the speech defects caused by them using empirical methods and theoretically worked out its linguistic foundations. In this article, empirical studies devoted to both directions were examined, and theoretical research was conducted based on their results. In our research, the localization of language centers and their mechanism of action, the structure of the language acquisition process, and at the same time, the additional advantages that bilingualism and multilingualism bring to a person have been involved in the study to some extent. Overall, this article focuses on theoretical research.
