Abstract

Although the linguists studying the Sumerian-Azerbaijani relations studied the onomastic units in the ancient Sumerian monuments, they did not touch on the phonetic and stylistic features of the sounds used in them. The use of onomastic units, personal names and toponyms used in ancient texts with geminate sounds, and the meaning of the vowels used at the beginning and end of these names are revealed. It is shown that the double processing of sounds in onomastic units is related to repetitions and the antiquity of these names. The fact that many words used in the Sumerian language have the same meaning in different language families once again proves that there was once a single great language.
