Abstract

Word creation is a branch of linguistics and serves to create new words in the language.
Word creation enriches the vocabulary of the language. In modern English, there are many different
ways to create a new word. These methods are mainly realized by adding affixes to words, creating
new words, combining two or more words, or moving a word from one part of speech to another.
Thus, as a rule, such changes imply the creation of new words in the language and the existence of
special word formation patterns.
Although English is an inflectional language, suffixal morphemes play an important role in English
word formation. Affixation is one of the most productive methods of word formation in modern
English. Affixation is the addition of prefixes and suffixes to the root or base of a word. The
creation of new lexical units occurs when words undergo certain semantic changes.
