“Leyli and Majnun” masnavi is especially distinguished in terms of using the Turkish
folklore tradition in Nizami’s work. The characteristics of Azerbaijani love epics were used in the
masnavi. The poet deliberately gave ample space to benefit from the traditions of the epic plot and
image. Nizami Ganjavi wanted to emphasize his Turkish identity and his attitude to the Turkish
language. While working on this subject, Nizami gave it a new dress in terms of content and form.
The poet worked on the subject of “Leyli-Majnun” in a completely different plan in the style of his
high artistic talent. The poet approached this topic from the perspective of a completely new
concept of the author. In the “inner world” of Masnavi, in the new artistic-aesthetic ideals embodied
in him, etc. We witness this approach. In this poem, as in other masnavis, Nizami created a
beautiful work in a new spirit, based on the tradition of Turkish epic folklore.
