The French literary environment, which is remembered for its rich literary events, has
become a place where ideas in different directions intersect since the 20th century. In France, which
contributed to the history of world novels in previous centuries, the novel completed its
development in various directions in the 20th century. In an environment dominated by feelings of
introversion and negativity, writers began to reject the processes as we know all and we can do that
had been hegemonic for a long time. It is not hard to guess that one of the reasons for the negative
point of view and the deconstruction of taboos in the novel is the Second World War. France is the place where the wave of postmodernism that echoes around the world is most acutely
felt, and where the works containing the elements of this trend are written in the sharpest way. The
postmodernism that emerged in this country did not appear suddenly.
In the article, the path of French literature on the way to postmodernism was analyzed step by step.
The trajectory of creation of postmodern works is based on scientific examples.
Since the 1900s, French literature has become the center of revolutions. Complex conflicts appeared
in the lives of artists who wrote and created in the French environment. Many new flows and
experiments have emerged, especially in prose-novelism. All this would give impetus to the
Nouveau Roman (French: “New Roman”) movement that would emerge later (1950s). The
Nouveau Roman played a major role in the creation of the postmodern era.
