Chingiz Alioglu is one of the representatives of the modern avant-garde of Azerbaijani
poetry. Throughout his entire career, he never tired of his poetic pursuits and always attracted
attention with his individual style and avant-garde worldview. An unexpected vision, bold
experiments, a free way of thinking, associative poetic thinking, and intellectuality distinguished
Ch. Alioglu from his literary contemporaries, as well as from the gray ranks. The poem “In the City
of Dreams” is the poet’s first example of a socio-political tone. The poem closely echoes the
characteristic features of the time in which it was written. Despite numerous accusations, the poem
was published 16 years later. The article talks about the interpretation of the socio-political motives
that form the basis of the poem, and its scientific analysis within the framework of surrealism.
