THE TITLE YABGU AND PERSONAL NAME IN “OGHUZNAME”

Abstract

Yabgu is an ancient Turkish word, as a title it is found in Front Asian sources of the 17th-15th centuries BC. We can see that the word Yabgu is used more often in “Oghuznames”, in other historical sources as a title, personal name, epithet attached to names. This word as a title and personal name is used only in Turkic tribes, and mostly in Oghuz. The occurrence of the word Yabgu in ancient written sources is very important for correctly studying the history of Turkic language and tribes. Therefore, in this article, the word Yabgu is thoroughly studied as a title, term and personal name.
