Abstract

In the article is studied the poetry of Ahmad Javad, the poet of independence of Azerbaijani literature in 20th century in terms of tradition and innovation. The issues of genre, style and context of poems, written by poet in different periods is researched in view of the mentioned problem. In the poems that poet wrote in the first periods of his creativity attention was paid to folklore traditions and this influence denoted itself in the choice of themes, simplicity, clarity and originality of the works.

In the article poetic heritage of Ahmad Javad is valued in terms of subject and problem. In process of the research was based on the poems included in the books “Goshma” (1916) and “Dalga” (1919) that were published during the lifetime of the poet.
