Modern and postmodern: derivations, discourses and Turkey

Abstract

At present, when new interpretations and various approaches to comtemporaneity, presence and deinition of elements of modern in non­Western societies acquires more and more urgency. Social reality in the analysis of modernization makes up that “background” which conditions not only the success of modernization but also probability of its realization. Turkish modernization which has its speciic peculiarities is a brilliant example of the experience of modernization of non­Western societies. The inluence of globalization upon contemporary modernizational processes in Turkey is also conditioned by the inluence of the world intellectual and cultural tendencies on the Turkish society including postmodern.
