Abstract

Snake worship found its bright evocation in different art forms (ceramics, sculpture, everyday items) in Azerbaijan. Paired temporal rings, the ends of the not closed bracelets, which were cultic signs of these products, were decorated with «snake». As ambivalent symbol, snake was presented in the shape of couple of snakes in the ends of items on the monuments in early and
medieval period. In the late Middle Ages, apotropaic signiicance of snakes didn’t fade during domination of religious scholastic ideology in Azerbaijan, and it was strengthened by drawing of calligraphic Arabic inscriptions, containing suras from the Koran on a snake skin.
