The signs and symbols of Tengri in the traditional art of Uzbekistan

Abstract

At the present stage the scientiic interest in Tengrism the religion of the ancient Turks who worshiped the cult of Heaven has noticeably increased in Central Asia region. The degree of Tengrism study and its roles in formation of the artistic culture in different countries of the region is different. It is manifested to a greater degree in Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan but to a lesser
degree in Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan. The Turks were the bearers of the certain world view and the world order which found an expression in the world view and particularly in the artistic view of Tengrism. The article deals with the problem of studying the Tengrism poetics, system of its speciic symbols and signs in different kinds of artistic culture of Uzbekistan at different historical stages.
