Caravanserai representing traditions and commonality of the architecture of the Islamic coutries

Abstract

One of the types of public and civil construction of the Islamic countries having much in common as well as various features of planning and architectural and art decision is stated in the article. Classiication of typological groups of caravanserais depending on their status, placement, and construction material is given in the study. The methods of main entrance portals are given. The study separates them into three groups: 1. city caravanserais; 2. interurban spread out at the intersections of caravan routes; 3. the special purpose caravanserais is situated in the complex with other medieval constructions.
