Theatre policy of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic

Abstract

In this article there is told about theatre policy of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic, which had left a great mark in the history of our nation, though it had existed only for 23 months. It is noted that the Democratic Republic, founded on the ideology of “turkization, islamization and modernization”, considered the theatre as a component of the cultural policy and it had been paid a special attention to it and supported. For that reason, during Democratic Republic period, Azerbaijan theatre in the irst time of its history, had been nationalized and gained state status, and entered into the new phase of development.
