Gara Garayev’s operas – from ideas to incarnation

Abstract

The article is dedicated to composer’s attitude to opera genre. The opera “Vatan” (Native land), which was written by the composer in co-author with J.Hajiyev was the irst experience and opera (the opera was staged in 1945) in this genre incarnating the actual subject of the Great Patriotic war in the former Soviet Union. G.Garayev didn’t appeal to this genre for a long time though his idea of writing operas was numerous. In composer’s opinions already in the 50-es there was an idea on the revision opera-aesthetic criteria. The laborious searches resulted with the monoopera “İncəlik” (Delicacy) according to Henri Barbusse which was a model of reined mastery of vocalintonation development.
