Landscape genre in the works of Asif Azerelli

Abstract

The Honoured artist of AR Asif Azerelli is a recognized master of fine arts of Azerbaijan. Various genres of painting are presented in his creation but the most significant works are created in landscape genre. As a matter of fact, A. Azerelli’s full classification of landscape painting is presented in the article. Compositional, image-bearing, formal and other artistic peculiarities of the artist’s landscapes are also considered here. There is carried out such a thought that A.Azerelli’s subject – matter of landscape painting in a certain sense has a systematic character. The master’s series of landscapes devoted to Garabagh, Nakhchyvan, Baku, Guba as well as to some foreign countries are considered in succession. Not only nature’s views, but also the pictures of historical monuments of Garabagh, Nakhchyvan, Baku and other regions play an important role in the artist’s works.
