One of the important issues of the modern study of traditional palace complexes and traditional dwellings of a closed palace type in Western Asia is the arrangement of the courtyard of such buildings, which is the «soul» of such a space, its tuning fork and semantic emphasis. Among others, the architecture of a traditional Persian house attracts attention, which bears the features of a mini-palace-fortress. Considering the connection of modern Iranian architecture with the architecture of Achaemenid Iran, in which the traditions of the construction of the apadana are protruding, the Persian palace complexes of the Middle Ages and the New Age (the most striking example is Golestan Palace) are important links in the development of the architecture of the closed house. In this regard, it is worth noting the role of the ceremonial courtyard-miansara with a mirror of the reservoir and the wind-blowing-badgir tower as dominant in the composition of a traditional Iranian palace-type house.
