Battle of Legnica (1241). Historical event and its reflection in fine art

Abstract

In 2016 year have passed the 775-th anniversary of Battle of Legnica which has left its deep, tragic mark in the history of the Polish people and inspired many people of art to create, dedicated to her works. Who were the participants of this battle on both sides that was the main cause of victory or defeat in this battle, still causes many questions and disputes among historians. As for the reflection of this battle in the fine arts, in this case, moreover, depicted is so far from historical truth that one can only talk about the skill of the artists and such are important for the present concept, as their patriotism.
