About prominent figures of the scientific environment of Nakhchivanin the middle ages

Abstract

Researching the life, creativity and activities of scientists, philosophers and wordsmiths who had exceptional services in the history of Azerbaijan's literary-artistic and social-philosophical thought, as well as in the formation and development of its literary environment from ancient times to the present day, is one of the urgent problems facing our science of literature. Among those problems, the study of the fate, art and multifaceted activities of the Nakhchivan literary environment
and the personalities raised by this environment has a special place.
For centuries, Nakhchivan has been one of the main development centers of Azerbaijani science. Its location on ancient caravan routes, transit connections, borders with several states, access to the East and West have created conditions for the development of science in Nakhchivan since ancient times. Although the territory of Nakhchivan became a battlefield during invasions in the 13th and 14th centuries, and the country was in crisis, all fields of science continued their development. Madrasahs, which functioned in the Middle Ages, also performed the function of an important scientific center. All this was one of the main factors that encouraged the development of Nakhchivan
science. There are countless prominent scientists who were originally from Nakhchivan and played a special role in the formation of Azerbaijani science, including the founder of Maraga observatory, prominent Azerbaijani scientist Nasireddin Tusi. As in other advanced centers of science and education in Azerbaijan, in the 13th-16th centuries, there was a certain development in the field of science in Nakhchivan, and a number of prominent scientists grew up in the region.
