Functionalization of plural suffixes in Azerbaijan and Turkish languages
Keywords:
suffix, plural, Azerbaijan, functionality, TurkishAbstract
In both Azerbaijani and Turkish, the suffix -lar differs from the suffixes of other grammatical categories of nouns (case and affiliation categories). Thus, case and affiliation suffixes serve to create grammatical relationships between words. In linguistics, there is such a provision that the case appears only when words come into contact with each other. In other words, there is no case outside the phrase or sentence. Possessive suffixes also behave as elements of a two-member paradigm (possessor and object). Unlike these, the suffix -lar is only associated with the word to which it is added and does not function outside the boundary of that word.
In the article, the features of the functionalization of plural and plural morphemes in Azerbaijani and Turkish languages belonging to the Oghuz group of Turkic languages will be studied. Various scientific sources were used in writing the article.
