The grammatical structure of a language is formed through the interaction of morphology and syntax. Morphology studies the structure of words, whereas syntax examines the relationships among words within a sentence. In contemporary linguistics, the interaction between these two domains is analyzed from the perspective of various theoretical approaches: functional morphology shapes syntactic relations, while syntactic structure regulates morphological categories. The interaction between morphology and syntax is not only a matter of descriptive grammar but also a methodological issue in theoretical linguistics. This issue highlights the need to develop a general grammatical model that explains the relationship between the form and function of linguistic units.
