    Abstract

The dialects of Western Azerbaijan, which constitute an integral part of
Azerbaijani dialects, include the dialects of Ağbaba, Basarkeçər, Çəmbərək,
Karvansaray, Barana, Böyük Qarakilsə, Calaloğlu, Qarakilsə, Kalinino, Qafan,
Gorus, Meghri, Kəvər, Dərələyəz, Iravan, Vedibasar, Zəngibasar, Əştərək, and
Hamamlı regions located within the territory currently called Armenia, historically inhabited by Azerbaijanis. Azerbaijani dialectology, as one of the major branches of national linguistics, plays a significant role in the study of ethniccultural memory, historical development stages, and the linguistic system of the people. In this regard, the dialects of Western Azerbaijan preserve important linguistic facts reflecting the ancient and rich layers of the Azerbaijani language.
