Audiovisual media plays a significant role in the functional and aesthetic representation of language in the modern information society. Written language components used in television, social media, and advertising — such as captions, scrolling texts, and subtitles — influence the formation of public language culture by maintaining linguistic norms. The article analyzes the technical and linguistic standards of subtitles, particularly based on the principles proposed by Fotios Karamitroglou and ETSI. Orthographic norm violations observed in the subtitle texts of Azerbaijani television broadcasts are evaluated as factors hindering the exemplary presentation of the language. The study concludes that the scientific examination and regulation of the normative state of written language elements in audiovisual media are essential for the accurate and exemplary representation of the Azerbaijani language in the modern information space.
