In the article entitled “A Brief Summary of the Scientific Approach to the Phenomenon of Discourse or Discursiveness (from the Position of Modern Azerbaijani and European Linguists)”, the author reflects his generalizing theoretical position on the mentioned problem. As a result of a new socio-conceptual approach to the existing problem within the framework of the philological philosophy of the 20th century, discourse is understood as a monological linguistic construction developed in speech or text. In addition, the “production” of speech in each language is carried out in accordance with certain rules (syntax) and with certain semantics reflecting its ultimate essence. In the discursive sphere, the intellectual and social spheres mutually create conditions and opportunities for the activity of the language system (through the communication environment and communicators), and this situation turns into a certain type of discursive experience. The decisive criterion of discourse is the specific language environment in which various linguistic constructions are created. According to this concept, discourse is “language within language”, that is, it is a communicative includes elements of vocabulary, semantics, pragmatics and syntax that are manifested in acts, speech and texts. Summing up these theoretical ideas, it should be noted that among so many different definitions (determinants), there is not and cannot be a single, correct, specific linguistic definition of the concept of discourse or discursiveness.
