THE DEVELOPMENT OF TERMINOLOGICAL LEXICOGRAPHY IN THE AZERBAIJANI LANGUAGE IN THE 20TH CENTURY

Abstract

The development of terminological lexicography in the 20th century Azerbaijani language was one of the main directions of national language building. The socio-political changes that took place during this period, especially the ideological restrictions applied during the Soviet period and the process of perestroika during the years of independence, directly affected the development of the terminological field. Since the beginning of the century, work has been carried out on the collection, translation and systematization of terms in various fields of science, and many field terminological dictionaries have been published. In the process of term creation, both Turkic languages and international terminology were referred to, and efforts were made to enrich the scientific and technical styles of the language.
These steps taken throughout the 20th century laid the foundation for the formation of a unified and scientifically based terminological system in the Azerbaijani language.
