This article examines the role and types of grammatical transformations in the process of translation. Since every language possesses its own grammatical system, structural differences between source and target languages often require certain
changes at both word and sentence levels. The study identifies and analyzes the main types of grammatical transformations — transposition, replacement, supplementation, and omission — providing illustrative examples in both English and
Azerbaijani. Each transformation type is explored in terms of its function, necessity, and influence on the meaning and structure of the translated text. The research demonstrates that grammatical transformations play a crucial role in ensuring adequacy and equivalence in translation, serving as an effective means of preserving the communicative and stylistic value of the original text.
