NAMES AND TITLES OF THE TURFAN UYGHURS

Abstract

Titles played an important role in the ancient Turkic anthroponymic system. This means that the Uyghurs moved to a completely sedentary way of life, adopting urban features. These Uyghurs professed various religions. At the same time, the Uyghurs integrated into the new cultural environment of this region, establishing socio-political and civil ties with the Chinese, Sogdian, Tokar, Khotanese and Indian peoples. Since anthroponyms are an exclusively cultural factor, this way of life is also reflected in Uyghur names.
