DEVELOPMENT OF MATHEMATICAL LINGUISTICS IN AZERBAIJAN

Abstract

Great achievements in Turkology, as well as in the development of mathematical linguistics as part of Azerbaijani
linguistics, belong to a prominent scientist, professor Mammadaga Shiraliev. A wise and far-sighted professor
M.Shiraliev every year consistently announced a set of mathematical linguistics for the development of this new field,
which has a great future. As a result of great efforts M. Shiraliev in 1976, a group on applied linguistics - a new area of
Azerbaijani linguistics was formed at the Institute of Linguistics after named Nasimi. In recent years, in connection with
the needs, the institute staff were equipped with computers, and graduate students were accepted to the department to
form personnel. They are engaged in research of the following relevant topics aimed at resolving issues that meet
modern requirements. Studies of the department employees on priority topics implied in accordance with the State
Program have gained wide scope. A common information base of the Azerbaijani language as the state language was
created, including considerable work was done in preparing the national corpus of the Azerbaijani language.
