PROVIDING CULTURAL INFORMATION IN TURKISH AND GAGAUZ LANGUAGES (ON THE CONCEPT OF "WOMAN")

Abstract

The concept, which is the whole of the linguocultural meaning burden carried by the word,
however, is the component of human knowledge and understanding of the outside world. Determined
by the system of values in culture, it is a symbolic image of the expressed concept, which reflects the
mental thought of the language carrier about the event and object. In this paper, the word ‘woman’ in
Turkish and Gagauz Turkic, are being subjected to conceptual analysis and their cultural comparative
analysis is carried out. First of all, the basic meanings of the word ‘woman’ in the aforementioned
languages are specified and then, as a concept, the cultural meanings attributed to the words in the
cultures of both peoples are mentioned in detail. Since phrases are considered more suitable examples
for cultural linguistic analysis, it is necessary first to examine the concept of ‘woman’ in the
worldview and culture of the people, with examples from these language materials. While studing
proverbs and phrases related to woman in both languages we see that the position of women in proverbs in Turkish is observed to be more optimistic than in Gagauz Turkic.
