Abstract

The article presents the phonetic features of the consonant phonemes of the Azerbaijani style of
the 13th century, based on the Istanbul manuscript of the Ibn Muhanna dictionary in the form of a
table. It describes the spelling of 28 consonants in the dictionary of Ibn Muhanna, consonant phonemes and pronunciation features in the ancient Azerbaijani Turkic language, as well as the characteristics of phonemes in the mentioned dictionary. The article also critically examines the issues of transcription in translated books and is presented in the form of a table. The phonetic phenomena of sound
substitution and sound transmission observed in the dictionary of Ibn Muhanna are also considered.
