Abstract

Research in the field of cognitive linguistics began to intensify in the 90s of the twentieth century. Cognitive processes (perceptual processes) are related to language. It is impossible to comprehend
objective reality without language and mind. To talk about the human mind, consciousness without
language is impossible. What distinguishes man from other living beings is the language and mind.
In linguistics language can be distinguished in several ways, both externally and locally within
the cognitive direction. Cognitive study of word formation in Turkish languages is carried out within
the cognitive – discoursive direction. Its essence contributes to a deeper understanding of conceptual
analysis, which seeks to find and identify certain correlations (relation of comparable concepts) between cognitive and linguistic structures.
The article discusses the study of the concept of derivative words through the prism of cognitive
linguistics.
