Abstract

The origin of place names occurs for historical and political reasons. Our village names, which
are thousands of years old, have changed either very rapidly or at first glance as a result of certain
processes at different times. Microtoponyms existing in our language are formed with the participation
of different word groups. Ethnotoponyms are microtoponyms formed on the basis of names of tribes,
peoples, clans. Microtoponyms formed from ethnonyms play an important role in revealing the names
of peoples, tribes, clans, groups that took part in the history of the formation of our people and in
determining when this process took place. The microtoponyms of the Karabakh region (Aghdam region) began to be studied in more detail after the liberation of our lands from occupation. The microtoponyms of the area also help to reveal interesting facts about the development path, profession, art
and occupation of our people from ancient times to modern times. It is possible to study many important historical and ethno-political processes by following the names of tribes. However, little has
been done on the etymology of microtoponyms derived from ethnonyms.
