Abstract

The linguistic picture of the world is reflected in the concepts. Concepts actually create the cognitive basis of the
people's mentality. Every idea of the linguistic landscape of the world must be based on the lexical-semantic system of
the national language. The knowledge and information of the English and Azerbaijani peoples about the concepts of
"friend" and "enemy" are reflected in their languages. If there are no expressions that reflect the concept of "friend and
foe" in the language, then there is no knowledge about it. Language is a living connection between the world and
language carriers. In reality, the way we perceive our surroundings is reflected in our language. The world we hear and
understand is reflected in our thinking, consciousness and verbalized in our language.
Even if we take a very superficial look at the phraseology of each language, we see that it is a real protector of
important events in the history of the people. Phraseology is a phenomenon that expresses a system of concepts. That is
why, like all concepts, the concepts of "friend and foe" were first verbalized in phraseological combinations.
