The paper widely analyzes the theoretical aspects of nostratic linguistics and analyzes the views on the essence of
this theory. Although common word roots in modern world languages have undergone morphological-phonological
changes, and root+affix have undergone fusion for thousands of years; it is possible to prove their unity of origin with
the help of etymological studies. True, it is somewhat difficult to prove the genetic unity of today's landscape of world
languages. However, the rapid publication of etymological dictionaries of different languages in recent years, the
growth of electronic resources allows to conduct a complex comparison of ancient word roots in languages of different
system. When comparing the language facts in the etymological dictionaries of different languages, we encounter an
incredible similarity in both the phonology and semantics of the root words. As we descend into the deep layers the language, the kinship of world languages become more prominent. Sound reflexes, sound transitions, metathesis, prosthesis, cases of reduction, phonotactic properties must be taken into account in the etymological interpretation of the nostratic roots. No matter how fast the modifications in the root words in each language, the praforms retain their relevance
anyway. Allomorphs, which appeared as a result of the distribution of ancient sounds, caused the morphologicalphonological evolution of the root words. Allomorphs formed as a result of morphological-phonological changes in the
initial roots of word are preserved in different languages.
