Abstract

The article discusses the linguocultural features of the symbolism of numbers. Linguoculturology as a branch of
linguistics emerging at the crossroads of linguistics and cultural studies can be considered as an integrative field of
knowledge that combines the results of ethnolinguistic and anthropological research. The article notes that it would be
wrong to think that the factors of research and analysis of numbers affect only the history and philosophy of mathematics, because they have a great influence on linguistics, ethnology, culturology and other sciences. Because numbers
have additional symbolic meanings in the cultural system of symbols, they are considered semiotic multifunctional
symbols. Numbers have always been united with language and culture, and they have always been part of the culture of
the people. It is noted in the article that the numbers with a nominal value are divided into two groups, productive and
non-productive, and the numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 9, 12, 40 from the productive ones are discussed and their symbolic
meanings are given. It has been concluded that certain numbers have sacred values in the worldview of a number of
peoples, and in order to be aware of these values, it is necessary to study the meanings they assimilate.
