SOME PECULIARITIES OF TRANSLITERATION OF THE AZERBAIJANI GEOGRAPHICAL NAMES INTO RUSSIAN LANGUAGE

The paper is dedicated to the problem of transliteration of the Azerbaijani geographical names into Russian language. As it is known the transliteration of geographical names play an important role at the stage of globalization in the
world because of widening of international socio-economic and cultural relations. In this connection a transliteration
must be possibly correct, exact and based on scientific items. In the process of transliteration of the Azerbaijani geographical names into Russian language it must be taken into consideration the syllable peculiarities of words, position
of letters, their morpheme structure and etс. Proceeding from these points the author distinguishes some peculiarities of
transliteration of the Azerbaijani geographical names into Russian language. The author’s recommendations will be
useful in further research works on this problem. Here is also marked out that nowadays some İnstitutes of Azerbaijan
National Academy of Sciences i.e. the Institute of Linguistics and the Institute of Informatics are busy with transliteration problems and cooperate in this branch of science.
