Abstract

Nizami is such a great poet that when his Persian works are studied, new objects of research appear. The
innovation in the article is that the author of the article refers to the Persian "Khamsa", presents his translations in nonrhyming syllable weight (6 + 5 format) as close as possible to the original, names each verb in Persian, gives a loan
translation in Azerbaijani, and provides a brief description of the verses containing the verbs. Another novelty of the
article is that while most of the phraseological verbs in poetic translations are replaced by simple verbs, in this article
the variants of the phraseological verbs in all the quotations in Persian sound in Azerbaijani. Thus, this linguistic truth
emerges that the 23 phraseological expressions mentioned in the article have a lifespan of at least 9 centuries, which is
important from the point of view of the history of the Azerbaijani literary language. This is the third novelty of the
article.
The 4-volume book “Explanatory Dictionary of the Azerbaijani language”, compiled under the leadership of
Professor A. Orujov and published in a new format in 2011, does not contain the following phrases, but they are used in
the vernacular: ayaq dirəmək, dadımlıq almaq, od vurmaq, sözü sazlamaq.
