TIME WORDS IN "ET-TOHFATUZ-ZAKIYYA FIL-LUGATITTURKIYYA"

The history of lexicography in Turkish languages started with the "Divan"
written by Mahmud of Kashgar in the early Middle Ages, and it became a tradition
in later periods. This tradition was continued with the creation of Kipchak
dictionaries. Kipchaks in the north with Codex Kumanikus, in the south with
"Kitabi macmuyi tarcumani turkish va ajami va moghali va farsi", "Kitabu
bulgatul-mushtak fi lüghatit-türk vel-qifchaq", "Ad-durratul-mudiyya fil-lügatitTurkiyye", "Al -gavaninul-kulliya li-zabtil-luğutit-Turkey", "Kitab al-idrak li-lisan
al-atrak", "Rasuli" dictionary, lexicography with "At-tohfatuz zakiyya fil-luğutitTurkiyya" have contributed various linguistic examples to its history. The article
deals with the words indicating time in At-tohfatuz zakiyya fil-luğutit-Turkiyya, of
these linguistic examples.
Time is a manifestation of abstraction, which connects the past to the future,
with no known beginning and end. Time itself contains both definite and indefinite
concepts. In this sense, words such as soŋra, burun, asra kün, kış, küz, yaz, yay are
used in At-tohfatuz zakiyya fil-luğutit-Turkiyya. In the vocabulary of At-tohfatuz
zakiyya fil-luğutit-Turkiyya, the expression süri tüş, which indicates the concept of
time that we included in the study, has not been seen in other sources. In addition,
due to such linguistic features, At-tohfatuz zakiyya fil-luğutit-Turkiyya is a source
of rich linguistic examples for Turkic languages and gives important material for
comparative analysis of Turkic languages.
