Abstract

Words can undergo semantic expansion and contraction over time, something which enriches the
vocabulary. In addition, the words are interconnected within a society-time-space network. Within the
framework of semantics, change in word meaning takes place according to this triangle. This triangle
allows the word’s connotations to expand and can introduce additional meanings to the word. The linguistic environment in which the word is used, internal and external language factors, and also different syntactic structures, play a special role in the expansion of a word’s meaning in the Azerbaijani
language, as well as its potential realization, and the expression of this novel semantic content. The
purpose of this article is to present a general set of studies on semantics in the new era.
