Abstract

In Turkish languages, lexical-grammatical units are grouped on the basis of different principles.
Lexical units in Turkic languages are classified according to their structure (simple, complex, compound); according to the features of form and meaning (homonyms, synonyms, polysemantic words,
antonyms); according to the number of syllables (monosyllabic, bisyllabic, polysyllabic); according to
the origin (national and loanwords).
In the system of Turkic languages, grammatical categories are also one of the divisions of words.
Categories expressing the position of words in the language structure are one of the oldest problems of
linguistics. Categories are general language phenomenon. The division of categories is based on
semiological principles.
